BAKERSFIELD,
CALIFORNIA (October 24, 2011) – Joiner Race Cars will look to make a statement and build
into their 2012 campaign as it will field four cars in the SRL
SPEARS Southwest Tour season finale at Las Vegas next Saturday
night. The “Sigma Engineering 154” will see JRC field cars for
Derek Thorn, Joe Farre, Blake Williams, and Ryan Reed.
Thorn comes into
the Las Vegas Bullring just 38 points out of second place in the
series standings and still has a chance at the championship just 78
points behind the leader. Thorn will be driving the #26 Superior
Crankshaft/JRI Toyota Camry with the Gen 1 JRC Truck Arm chassis
underneath him.
Farre, co-owner of
JRC, will be returning to the series driving the #54 Sigma
Engineering/LVI Services Chevrolet after a two race break. More
than 500 guests of Sigma Engineering, which Farre also owns, will be
in the stands as he tries to win his hometown race.
A pair of young
guns will join Thorn and Farre in the all-out assault on Vegas.
Spokane, Washington’s 16 year-old Blake Williams will make his
series debut driving the #55 JRC/McClintock & Turk Chevrolet as he
continues to develop as one of the West Coast’s young guns and is
looking into running the series full-time in 2012. Williams won the
2011 ICAR Late Model championship and also teamed with Kevin
Richards to finish second in the Spokane County Raceway Late Model
points championship.
The fourth member
of the JRC team will be Ryan Reed of Bakersfield, CA driving the #56
JRC/Racehard.com Toyota. The 17 year-old driver recently tested for
the Drive for Diversity program and relocated to North Carolina
earlier this season to race a limited schedule in NASCAR K&N Pro
Series, Super Late Model, and LMSC races. He was the 2010 TOYOTA
Speedway Super Late Model Rookie of the Year and 2009 Legends track
champion.
“I’m
excited to head back West and race at Vegas,” Reed said. “I’ve had
some fast cars there and look forward to competing in the SRL series
again!”
The talented group
of drivers will be met with a tough task at Las Vegas as live pit
stops will be the name of the game for the season-finale. In
addition to a competition break at lap 77 for fuel only, at any
point in the race prior to lap 144 a team may choose to do a live
two tire pit stop.
“We are extremely
excited to add Blake Williams and Ryan Reed to our team for Las
Vegas,” JRC Competition Director Marty Melo said. “These two young
drivers have proven they have great driving skills. We look forward
to putting them in our JRC equipment and watch them run up front.”
